IT Show, Hogsbreath and Stiff Chilli

This is yet another long overdue post. Met up with Puss, Bernerd and Valencia to visit the IT show last weekend. And after that, I never want to step into an IT show ever again unless I really want to get something. I hate squeezing with the crowd. It does give me a little bit of a claustrophobic feeling.

After leaving the fair empty handed, we went for dinner at Chijmes. Yup I suggested Hogsbreath Cafe because I kinda miss the Prime Ribs beef there. We were lured and almost tempted by the smell of the Wagyu beef at Gyu Kaku nearby when we got there but were stopped in our paths after looking at their menu. Almost everything was priced at least a hundred dollars. Back to Hogsbreath it was!

I ordered the same thing I had the last time, the El Grande prime ribs. Just that this time I was feeling so hungry I went for the mega cut!

Puss had half a slab of pork ribs, which turned out to be really huge

Weijian joined us after dinner. Having just returned from his month long Europe trip, there's surely a lot of catching up and stories on his part. And so we went to this cafe called Stiff Chilli Trattoria down at Jalan Besar for some desserts and chit chatting. It was Puss' recommendation, no idea how he managed to find this ulu cafe but it turned out to be rather unique. Its origination is Indonesian and they're apparently famous for their Tiramisu.

The Tiramisu which I didn't really fancy. Its all soggy and geely. But Puss loved it.

The Cassata. Which is actually Italian Gelato chocolate ice cream, nougat, vanilla, liguer scented.

Their nice texture and taste chocolate ice cream that believe it or not, had a subtle chilli after taste. Its uniquely different, but don't really like the aftertaste.

Went to watch soccer with Weijian after the desserts. Wanted to visit Grapevine, but Valencia suggested that we visit White Tangerine at Hougang's CC, because she mentioned that they do show soccer there and its actually a nice place. But when we got there, they were closing. And so back to Grapevine it was. Although there were quite a number of people there, they weren't showing Euro 2008 either. We ended up watching the match between Spain and Sweden at the coffeeshop just beside Grapevine. It was only then that we realised how cheap beer was at coffeeshops. A mere $6.20 for a big bottle of Heineiken, and you only have to pay another $3 or $4 for a nice plate of hor fun or yi mee. Coffeeshops are where we're watching soccer from now on.
