I can't get to sleep

I can't get to sleep..i've been tossing and turning on my bed for the past 2 hours to no avail. Thats because i fell asleep watching the lousy Ren Ci charity show just now. I must have fallen asleep at around 9+pm just now...when they had only around 20,000 calls. I remember waking up momentarily much later only to hear that they already have 600,000 calls. Singaporeans are still pretty charitable and generous despite the NKF drama yeah.

Met up with Chin Seng, Kheng Siang and Jit Hwee on Friday where we had dinner at Hanabi Japanese Restaurant. Its a Japanese buffet restaurant, something like Ikoi at Miramar Hotel. They have 2 branches, one at King's Arcade off Bukit Timah road, the other one at Odeon Tower near City Hall..where Loof is located. Its $30 per person, just like Ikoi. The food is quite alright, nice sashamis comparable to Ikoi. A pity they don't serve soft shell crabs as part of buffet though..if not i would have lots of it! But they made up for it with nice Mackeral fish, we had lots of that!

Spent much of my weekend at home, there's nowhere to go and no one to go out with lol. I did however meet Sham yesterday to watch soccer at Robertson Walk again. Yup Manu won again! 4-1 against Bolton this time...that did brighten my weekend just a little. After manu's match, upon Chelsea fan Sham's request, we stayed on to watch boring Chelsea win against Sheffield United..yawn.

After soccer, Sham and i decided to catch a movie. We headed to Orchard Cineleisure where we caught Music and Lyrics. It turned out to be a really nice romantic comedy. The show started off really cute with Hugh Grant dancing with his bandmates on a MTV. This show changed my opinion of Drew Barrymore. I never used to like her that much, i've always thought that she's overrated. But yeah after this show, i kinda fell in love in her. Her character in the show is actually my idea of how i would like my future girlfriend cum wife to be, funny, chatty, feminine, capable and yeah simply downright adorable.



Accompanied Bernerd to Qian Hu fish farm today because he wanted to get some driftwoods and stuff to start a new aquarium. After Qian Hu, i went to Orchard Hotel for a haircut, cost me $35 but i think its worth it. Kinda like my hairstyle now, at least its not squarish and thick like it used to be haha.

Met up with Sham on Sunday night to watch the movie both of us had wanted to watch so badly. Yes its the movie 300. Well...i must say that it was kinda disappointing..it didn't turn out to be as good as i have imagined it to be. The whole show was made for women or gays to admire the actors' nice toned bodies. I'm not someone that enjoys admiring another man's body..thats because i'm a man myself! However, i did enjoy the few scenes where the women in the movie appeared nude too haha. I would have loved the movie better if the soldiers wore nice cool armours to battle, but unfortunately they didn't. The dialogues in the movie were witless half the time, the show made the people from that era all sound like himbos..the scriptwriters obviously didn't put in much effort. The show did however induce me to read up more about this battle from wikipedia. I found out from there that the show was pretty accurate except for the fact that the soldiers didn't fight half naked. Watch the show if you're a history fan, don't watch it if you're someone that dislikes imbecilic conversations.



Celebrated my birthday a second time on Monday, this time with my family. We went to East Coast Park. We dined at one of the many seafood places there..this one call Fisherman's Village. Had lots of seafood including a plate of nice chilli crabs. All my life, I've always who has been conscious about consuming crab's eggs even though many people has testified that its delicious. The reason is because of my mum. She's always nagging and telling me how much cholesterol those eggs contain and how bad it is for health..so i don't really eat a lot of it. But i had quite a lot of it that day because both the crabs we ordered were female! I had better start running to lose all those cholesterol thats in me now!

Had to wake up at 3.45am this morning to fetch my sis to the airport. She flew off to Cambodia's Siam Reap this morning for a vacation with her secondary school friends. How i envy her, i long for a holiday myself too!

Happy 24th birthday celebration

Celebrated my 24th birthday with my close friends yesterday. We had dinner at Hard Rock Cafe and yup as i mentioned before in one of my previous post, its my virgin experience there! Well nothing fantastic about the place, nothing fanciful, nothing unique, nothing beautiful lol. The place was filled with Caucasians though. And while dining there, we all realised that i wasn't the only one celebrating his/her birthday there that night, there were at least 3 other people sharing that special day with me haha. But i must comment that the food there is not too bad at all. I had some sort of a chicken with macaroni cheese dish which i couldn't finish in the end.

Biker couple Dave and Teri came for around half an hour before they had to go off to 'meet the parents'. Dave came holding a big Nike plastic bag containing a nice Nike shoe box..i thought that was meant for me but when presenting to me my gift..they took out a much smaller Nike plastic bag instead haha. They had bought me a running singlet knowing how athletic and fit i've been lately thanks guys! Haha! Oh and thanks to my poly buds namely Valencia, Kheng Hong, Henry, Meiwen and Sham, i am now a proud owner of a brand new Crumpler Sling bag!

It was supposed to be a farewell shot in front of Hard Rock but the passerby that took it put my camera to Video Mode. The video turned out to be really hilarious though!

After dinner, we all went to Mt Faber's Jewel Box Altivo Bar. They didn't bring me there for the atmosphere nor the live band nor anything else, they just wanted to get me high and probably drunk. I was given 2 waterfalls courtesy of Puss and Wayniest, 1 lamborghini no thanks to Eunice and husband, 1 tequila shot thanks to Kheng Hong and 1 frustration thanks to Henry. In case you don't know what frustration is, its some cold beer mixed with some other shitty alcohol, it smelled and tasted like cough syrup, you will seriously feel frustration after drinking that lol. Actually both the lamborghini and waterfall tasted like cough syrup too. So can you imagine after drinking so much cough mixture that night, i'm still actually coughing now! Lol. After taking the first drink which was the waterfall, my stomach was on fire, i could feel all the blood rushing upwards towards my head. After the lamborghini and the 2nd waterfall, my world started to spin, i felt so hot you could have cooked an egg on my face...i looked like a tomato. This was when i was called up on stage by the live band together with this other birthday boy Daniel. The band's simple request was for us to get a girl to slow dance with us while they sang the song Wonderful Tonight. Daniel had no problem finding a girl because his girlfriend was there that night. In the end, Eunice was picked by the singer from the band to dance with me. I hope her husband didn't mind! Haha. Anyway that wasn't all, after the dance, Kheng Hong had to toast me with another Tequila shot when my world was already having a super duper earthquake richter scale 10! After the last drink, i really didn't want any more, i told myself inside my heart i'll abstain from alcohol for the rest of my life haha. But the fact that i actually managed to remember so much details despite drinking so much shows that i was perfectly sober that night! I'm good!

Thanks Kheng Hong for one last toast!

At the end of the night, Philadel and Weijian had to drive my car for me. Then came disaster. I burped and the taste of the cough syrup reappeared, it was the last straw, i couldn't take it anymore, i just puked...and of all place...in my poor Jazzabel! I would like to apologise to Phil, Wayniest and Henry who were in the car at that time with me, it was embarrassing, it was smelly, it was sticky, it was dirty, it was plain disgusting. Thats exactly how i felt although it was my own puke...it must have been worse for them haha. I really felt for my car after that...i used to even fuss when i have the smell of food in my car..and now! Arghh!

Anyway, they sent me home for a bath and a change of clothes after that. While rinsing my mouth with listerine, i almost puked again..it had the taste of alcohol haha. Anyway, i stayed over at Weijian's house that night. I slept on his carpet with his sleeping bag. You would have expected me to get a really nice sleep after all that drinking but nope, i slept at 4am and woke up around 9.40am after someone smsed. I couldn't get back to sleep anymore after that. Fortunately, there wasn't any hangover or anything for me. Life was back to normal again. I then went on to play soccer in the afternoon only to find out there that the opponents had gone to the wrong pitch.

All in all, i would really like to thank all those that spent this wonderful special day with me namely Puss, Weijian, Philadel, Valencia, Kheng Hong, Shawn, Henry, Darien, Sham, Dave, Teri, Eunice, Ryan, Jackie and Mag! Although it didn't end off too nicely (at least for me), i really did enjoy myself thoroughly. Thanks for the presents, thanks for the presence, thanks for the hugs and kisses and last but not least thanks for the drinks! But! No more next year!

Life is great

Was supposed to send one of my unit's laptop for engraving today, when i was told that the laptop is in my DYS3's office, i went in and took the laptop that was there on his table. When i reached the place where the engraving was supposed to be done, i got the shock of my life. It is the god damn wrong laptop! OMG..i've travelled all the way from Sungei Gedong to Ubi only to get nothing done! TMD.

There's a new commercial on TV recently. Its Great Eastern. It starts off with a small boy performing with a piano in front of an audience and then receiving roaring applause after that, they too focused on the joy and look of love of his parents. It then went on to show him maturing into a handsome young teenager enjoying his soccer game and celebrating with his friends after he scored a goal. Thirdly, he became a man and was shown being there for his wife when she's in labour..they eventually cheered and kissed after their baby was finally delivered. In the last scene, he became an old man and was shown walking hands in hands with his wife before they were surprised by their children and family throwing a party for their 50th wedding anniversary. The message the commercial is trying to get across...life is great. I agree totally! That is exactly my perception of how life should be...life can be great when there are many people around you that loves and supports you. So people, treasure everyone around you... Live every minute and second of it to the fullest! Don't live to regret anything...remember...life is great.. ;)

A touching ad, a great ad Great Eastern. It has been such a long time since insurance companies made such great inspiring ads..the last one was i believed by Prudential? The one where a small was was shown playing with his chapteh by his kampong house..he was then shown coming back to the dilapidated house and digging out his old toy from under a flower pot. I guess the highlight of the ad was the song by Dick Lee..its called life story? That ad won some award if i wasn't wrong. Talking about good ads, don't you think out defence recruitment ads are damn fantastic too? I've always been interested in doing advertisement designing...haven fulfilled my dream..maybe i will someday...maybe..

I'm running out of titles for my posts. Anyway, something funny happened in office last friday. One of my colleague was reading some blog on the I-net terminal when i saw a girl's picture and just commented: "Wah who is that ah lian?" He then calmly replied: "She's my girlfriend." I kept quiet and walked away hahaha.

After work that friday, a few of us including Jit Hwee, Chin Seng, Kheng Siang and I went to Marina Bay for steamboat dinner. Yup you guessed it..i overate again...everyone is commenting that i've gained weight! I better watch it! After dinner, we went to watch a movie at The Cathay House. Caught Hannibal Rising this time. Well i can only say that its not a very good show..not a very bad show either. But to sum it up..don't watch won't die..better if you don't watch it lah..watch also waste money lah...you won't be missing anything at all lah...hahaha.



On sat, met up with Darren, Alwyn and Yuan Xin to watch Liverpool vs Manu at Harrys@holland village. The bar was filled with caucasians that night and they were really rowdy. There was this particularly irritating guy that kept making some crow noises. Don't ask me why or whats the meaning of it..he just kept making that noise every 10 mins or so. It irritated the shit out of the whole bar before some guy finally did everyone a favour by shouting: "Shut up!" after he made the noise again. It was so funny i laughed like mad after that. And thank goodness after that, the "crow" stopped ahhing once and for all. Words cannot describe my joy when John O'Shea scored a super duper last minute goal for Manu with just around 2 mins of injury time left on the clock. The whole bar of manu fans went mad jumping for joy..one guy even tossed his beer up drenching some really angry people behind him..luckily i only felt a few small drops on my hands...heck anyway i was damn happy..its definitely gonna be manu's year this time!

Spent my Sunday morning at Clementi trying to look for my textbook but the damn bookshop was closed. I then went to look for Wayniest and disturb him at his hall. Unplanned for, i then spent almost the whole day there because he tricked me that they will be playing soccer that night at 11pm but it didn't materialise in the end. Anyway, we had dinner at Clementi's Botak Jones branch..it wasn't as crowded as the one opposite my place but the food is the same. I overate yet again this time...had one large plate of Cajun chicken and some chicken wings..i almost couldn't walk after that hahaha.

Took on leave on Monday and i went in search of my textbook again. Thanks to Puss i managed to find one old edition version of the text at Bukit Merah Library. But when i wanted to borrow the book, i found out that my loan quota has been reached. No thanks to my mum who is always borrowing mountains of books using my sis's and my card. I then tried in vain to contact her the whole afternoon...hugging the book and falling asleep on the couch in the quiet reading room till she finally called back around 2 hours later. Important thing is..i got the text..and its time to start mugging.

Guess what i saw at Bukit Merah central when i was there...the Bata shop that used to be there has been renamed "The Sale Shoe Shop". What kind of a stupid name is that?! What kind of marketing people do they hire there? Is that name supposed to attract the heartlanders and ah sohs around the area? It sounds so stupid i won't even want to walk in lah! The 2 Bata shops at AMK has also been renamed...not "The Sale Shoe shop" but "Foot-In" or something. Although it is also silly sounding..at least its 10 times better than "The Sale Shoe Shop"! Hahaha..

Singapore experienced some tremors on Tuesday and people from Ngee Ann Poly was evacuated. I was studying at SIM's library the whole day. SIM is just beside Ngee Ann poly and yet i didn't even feel a vibration from where i was! This is so not fun.

Will be having my exam this coming Saturday which is also my birthday! Have the intention of celebrating this time at Hard Rock Cafe. Although that place has been there for years, i haven really been there before i really want to check it out. I would sincerely hope for friends to join me there that day in celebration of me turning 2 dozens years old! Cya then!

41st Signal Anniversary Dining in 2007 plus the mess i created

Today is my Signal formation's 41st Signal Anniversary. Had games day in the morning before we were released for a half day off. But the bunch of regulars from signals were required to attend a dining-in in the evening at Orchid Country Club.

Its my first time attending a dining-in. We were required to wear a no 2 and observe some fine dining etiquette while eating. But i must say it was quite an eye opener and i kinda enjoyed myself except for one thing. Read more below.

Toast to the President of Singapore!

Had to dig out my Bata leather shoes from under my bed for this dinner and guess what..the rubber soles were melting and rotting. I didn't realise this when leaving home until i have reached Orchid Country Club. The cleaners must hate me because wherever i walk, my shoes were staining their white marble floor. While having dinner, my shoes finally couldn't take it...the sole perimeter fell off totally one after the other. The whole floor under me became black..it was a super big mess. To make things worse, the rubber was sticky and many small pieces were falling off and sticking to the ground. It was gross, i didn't know shoes can end up like that. I was feeling so guilty and embarrassed. Luckily the chairs and tables were covered with cloth so nobody noticed except for a few colleagues beside and in front of me because i told them haha. It was super embarrassing...but inside me i was giggling because it was pretty hilarious.

After dinner, we were invited to the reception area outside and hang around. Soon after, guess what? They invited us back into the dining hall because there was to be some performance by a signal live band. The hall has been cleared of the tables and chairs and that means the black mess i created under the table can be seen by all. When me and my colleagues saw it, we all started bursting out laughing. Although i really pitied the cleaner who was there busy trying very hard to scrub and clean it with a mop, i couldn't really help laughing loudly..it was super funny..i feel so bad! I hope they won't ever find out that i was the culprit! I hope the cleaners or their children don't chance upon my blog and read this haha. Stupid Bata! To think i worked so hard for you just 3 years ago! Not gonna buy another pair of shoes from you again! Hahaha.
