A feeling of nostalgia overwhelmed me last night as I was staring at the seas. Somehow, I was there recalling my childhood days. And a bulk of the joy and excitement in those days were provided by this small little ingenious japanese black box they call the Sega Genesis 16-Bits.
The small little retro game console
A number of you might recall having one of these when you were little. In fact, I have one friend that insists his set is still working fine up till this day!
There were a few particular games I had and played so often that everything of it is still pretty much vivid in my mind right now.
Sonic the Hedgehog 1!
And 2! I used to always get Sis to control Tail on controller 2! But they tend to lose sight of each other quite often haha.
I used to spend much of my school holidays playing Sonic. Please don't laugh when you read this, I've never ever completed the 2 games before! I would always struggle for 2 hours or so just to reach the final stage. And when I do get there and fight the "King", I will eventually run out of lives and continues after dying a few more times. And in those days there's no such things as being able to save your games and continuing from where you left off another day. There were a few other games that I never did complete too namely:
Dick Tracy, a game I never quite manage to grasp hold of. I couldn't even get past the 5th stage.
Aladdin...ooh ahh
Lion King...Rooaar
Yup I played these kind of games then lol. Of course there were also other games that I did eventually complete. I conquered
Street Fighters 2! Trust me, I used to be able to execute those sonic booms, hadukens, scissors kick etc with ease. But if you were to challenge me to a game in the arcade now, you'll probably be able to trash me in no time at all haha.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles The Hyperstone Heist...Shell Shock!
Golden Axe 1. Remember bleh!? The sound of the enemies dying! Lol
Golden Axe 2..bleh bleh!
Bare Knuckles 1! Yeah remember being able to summon the police car and killing almost everyone on the screen? Lol
Then there was Bare Knuckles 2. I enjoyed this the most!
And Fifa International. Yes the game play was from top to bottom and vice versa, very retro indeed. Oh remember the trick to his game? You can actually stand in front of the goalkeeper and prevent him from kicking the ball upfield lol.
Wrestle Mania! The likes of Shawn Michaels, Hulk Hogan and The Undertaker were young then. And Mr Perfect, Owen Hart and The Yokozuna were still alive.
Being the only boy in the family, I always had a hard time persuading sis to play the games with me. Most of you won't know this but my sis' current room and my mum's and aunt's room used to be one big giant room. And thats where the 4 of us slept in while my uncle occupied my current room. Sis and I used to share a double decker bed with me on the upper deck and her on the lower deck. Mum's bed was beside ours and there was then this television in front of our beds where I plugged and enjoyed my Sega Genesis. Very often, I would fall asleep on sis' lower deck bed while playing or watching tv and mum would have to carry me back up where I belong lol.
If you like myself miss playing the Sega Genesis, there's always the gens emulator available for download on the Internet. I have like a huge collection of the games now, the quantity of games I never could have afford to have then. The emulator brings back those same delectable memories, less that need to blow your game cartridge every time it doesn't read!

What if I had a million dollars?
Recently, I've been put in a situation which allows me loads of time to idle and dream, and that explains the existence of this post.
You guys read the papers today? There's 77,000 millionaires in Singapore, a more than 15% increase from the previous year. I really really really want to join the club!
Well, in actual fact, if you think about it, a million dollars isn't a lot of money anymore in our era. But people like you and me still struggle and work like dogs and cows just to earn that very first million dollars. Our Singapore Pools thrives precisely on this desire of ours as well.
Not one who will live humbly if I have the means, in fact I like to live life extravagantly lol. Like what they say about sexy women, if you have it, flaunt it!
Being a typical man myself, what else would be more ego boosting than a nice header turning ride? And for that I'll spend part of that 1 million dollars on a red Alfa Romeo Spider!
That purchase will probably leave me with only about 80% of the million dollars remiaining and what else beats having a nice shelter above your head, a place you call home while million others envy and dream of having. I've been passing by this nice condo at Yishun call The Shaughnessy quite often the past week and I kinda fell in love with it. This condo comprises of 3-storey homes that come complete with recreational roof terraces and private carpark lots in the basement. It is indeed an ideal home I can truly call mine lol.
My dream home
My living room
My bedroom
My kitchen
Actually I highly doubt the $800k I have left would be enough for this, even the full million dollars might be insufficient. Which is why I'll choose to put the new home plans on hold first! In fact, this sum of money will come in very handy indeed for my very first smally cafe! Of course I won't blog down the exact concept and idea of my business but if you trust me on this, its definitely gonna be a blast!
And when this cafe keeps the money flowing in, more cafes will pop up and after that, I'll finally be able to afford that Shaughnessy home of mine where I can live comfortably with Mum, Aunt and my future wife and children.
Still in my cockaigne I am, getting back to reality soon. Nee Soon Camp I'm coming back.

A day of soccer
Played soccer on Sunday and Raymond came by as a guest photographer. He came equipped with an impressive looking camera complete with an expensive looking lens. And yeah the pictures turned out to be quite awesome!
Ronaldo on the ball
Berbatov scores!
Fabregas with an outside foot pass
David Silva making a cross
Kazim Kazim with an impressive header
And Van Der Sar spewed on the ground after making a save
Team talk
Caught in the act making a bad tackle. Stepping on the opponent's ankle here.
Then I got punched lol
Impressive team I have yeah? I'm supposed to mention this. We lost the game 2-3 although we led 2-0 at one point. And I'm indirectly responsible for the loss. I missed an open goal and made the touch that eventually led to their winning goal! Blame me guys! I'm sorry.
