Recently have a new task assigned to me at work! You see Bata Shoes will be celebrating the re-opening of their newly renovated store at Peninsula Plaza on 8th Sept. It will be the largest shoe retail in Singapore and it'll be very beautiful complete with elevators and three storeys of shoes. It'll be a grand opening with ribbon cutting and lion dance even i heard. Big big big big boss will be coming down all the way from Toronto Canada...Mr Thomas Bata himself.
And my new task is to contact the hotels in Singapore to ask for catering quotations. They want cookies, pastries, eclairs, wine etc provided for the cocktail party that day. I contacted nearly all the big name hotels here in CBD area, a few of them replied and the price is ridiculous...it ranges from $30 - $70 per person...and we're ordering for around 100 people...that will be $3000 - $7000...haha definitely not within budget. However what to do, boss wants to maintain face by having a more high-class catering, that's why Delifrance is out of contention.
Hotel staffs are extremely polite, hospitality course has taught them well..hehe. Ritz Carlton was exceptionally nice and left a deep impression on me. Now i know why they're the only 6 stars hotel in Singapore. I even emailed Phoenix Hotel to ask for quotation just for the sake of asking...over my dead body i'll give them business ever again..for those of you who don't know, i went for their dinner buffet with Puss around 1 year ago. A day after that, diarrhoea came my way...terrible! Oh ya one more place you must must must avoid if you don't want to suffer in the toilet...the buffet place at Marina Square...can't really remember the name of the restaurant but it's a must avoid. I went there also around last year with my gf, mazi, ivory and puss (again)...out of the 5 of us...3 of us had severe diarrhoea after that...terrible terrible!
Ok enough wait they sue me...those of you interested can come down to the new store opening on the 8th sept! Might have a big sale going on for grand opening.......so come on down! But sorry no cocktail party for you all...it's specially for the big bosses and the VIPs...but then i think i can eat! hehe
