I watched Army Daze on Art Central last Sunday and really enjoyed it thoroughly. I was laughing all the way throughout the show on my bed. Its actually the first time that I'm watching the classic show ever since I joined the army. Most of you don't know this. As a kid, I used to dread the fact that I would have to join the army one day. I watched army dramas, one Jacky Wu starred in in particular, and would cry whenever I imagine myself in their shoes. I didn't want to go through the mental suffering of the abuse and hurling by their sergeants, and also the physical torture of running SOC. Who would have guessed that I actually chose to sign on with the army 20 years down the road? Ironic I know, another example of how life can be so unpredictable lol.
Had a company cohesion on Friday at Changi Haven. There's nothing special to mention about, except that it was a good break from the hard work I've been forced to put in the past 2-3 weeks. We played ban luck, kicked some rubber ball, bbqed and ate some cake. Oh one of my colleague's uncle owns my dream car a red Alfa Romeo Spider and I actually got the chance to test drive it! I love it.
This month and next month's birthday boys
I'll make it mine one day
The weekend was uneventful, my body still aches after the 21km I ran last week. In fact, I spent much of the weekend sleeping and playing mj lol. Went for dinner with mum just now at this restaurant call the Japanese Dining Bar at Crown Centre off Bukit Timah Road. We wanted to eat at Hanabi at first but was told that they were fully booked. And so we conveniently walked across the road and chanced upon this other Japanese restaurant. We made the mistake of ordering the Wagyu beef and black pork shabu shabu Hot Pot buffet. We got so gelut of the meat that we literally got sick of eating. The waygu beef dipped in their peanut sauce tastes good though. But you'll be better off ordering the ala carte version if you ever go there, its much cheaper and you don't have to force yourself to eat more to make your money worth lol.
They served the seaweed appetiser similar to the one at Wasabi Tei
Our hot pot
The Wagyu beef, looks good doesn't it
And the black pork
Some mushrooms and veg

AHM 2008
I survived a hat-trick of AHM! On all 3 occasions, I was forced to run. This 3rd AHM, which happened today, proved to be the most shagged one for me yet. In fact, I deproved a whole 50 minutes from last year! I couldn't even attain the stipulated timing of 2 hours 45 minutes...I came in 8 minutes late lol. At the 14km mark, my thighs started to get heavy, cramps started coming in, my ankle hurt and I could feel the pain of a blister on my right leg's 4th toe. The mud on the Padang got my shoes all soggy and muddy, and it caused some problems too. In fact I've thrown them away. Lots of excuse I know, I still can't believe how much slower I am this year. I'm so glad I didn't sign up for Stand Chart this year, I will probably die there. I've always thought that the AHM is one of the better organised mass runs in Singapore, and they didn't disappoint this year as well. The water points were entertaining and motivating, and there were lots of babes in the run as well. Although I didn't do well this year, I'll probably continue taking part, even after ORD.
Went out for lunch yesterday with Sis, Annabel and Terence. Sis wanted to try Globetrotters at United Square, and that's where we went. The restaurant had a playroom, specially made kids' tables and chairs, and a menu catered to their small appetite and taste. Its literally a kids' heaven.
Globetrotter
Sis's breaded fish
I had beer battered fish and chips
Terence too
Annabel had some pizza
I then met up with Puss and Wayniest for dinner at Dim Sum just down Serangoon Road. As usual, Puss overordered and all of us ended up super bloated after the meal. Here's some of the food we ordered.
Yummy sesame pancake
Some toufu
Wanton mee
Yummy portuguese egg tarts
Guo Tie
Mee Suah cake
Thats how much food we ordered..all for 3 people to finish.
After dinner, we went to watch the new thai horror movie 4Bia. Its a movie of 4 short stories, therefore the title. The first story is about a lonely girl who sent out a random sms and got a reply from a lonely "soul". The second one is about teenagers playing with black magic. The third one is about 4 buddies' ghostly encounter while camping in the jungle. And the last story is about an air stewardess who has been assigned to escort a corpse alone on a plane. Sounds interestingly scary isn't it? Go watch it if you like the thrill of being scared, like me lol.
Its the end of the Beijing Olympics 2008 today. How time flies. And for the first time in my life, I actually felt the excitment and the big deal about an olympics. Its kinda sad that its ending already. But not to worry. The EPL is here to replace it!

A much needed break
After a long and tiring week, I woke up on Saturday morning and decided that it would be "Pamper Nick" day. I went for a massage, haircut, facial and car wash lol.
Then met up with Puss and Valencia for dinner in the evening. In this really small world, turns out long lost church friend Martin was their spanish class classmate. And so he joined us. Wanted to eat japanese yet again and I wanted to go for quantity more of quality, so we went down to Miramar's Ikoi. I seem to have lost interest in the steaks and has been eating japanese almost every weekend, but damn they're both almost as expensive lol.
After dinner, we went down to Dempsey and patronised the barracks. Turns out to be a really nice place with good service, ambience, eye candies and nice desserts. Guess who we saw again this time? Fiona Xie with her SLK driver boyfriend haha.
From left, our chocolate fondant, chocolate toffee cake and strawberry shortcake.
Martin and I
After dinner, we decided the night shouldn't end yet. So we went to Bishan Junction 8 and caught 12 Lotus. It was to be one of the biggest mistake of our lifes. The show was crappy, complete with a lousy storyline and a cast nothing to hoohah about. Only 10 minutes into the show, and I already couldn't wait for the end to come. When it was finally chapter 12 into Lotus' story, we were jumping for joy. Royston, please stop making movies, 881 was bad enough. This is 100x worse.

Champions
Tiger Woods hit a golf ball at me, Roger Federer knocked the old shaver off my hand with his tennis ball and Thierry Henry destroyed the other brand of shaver's display with his soccer ball as I was browsing for a new shaver in the supermarket. Yup I'm a new victim for Gillette's new marketing ingenuity. I bought the new Gillette Power Fusion! Being a new shaver, of course it gives a smoother shave than my old one. I probably won't say the same as months go by, because I change my blades only once in a long long time! Lol.

888 and National Day 2008!
Met up for dinner with Puss and long lost church friend Joann on 080808 at Liang's Court Tampopo. Yeah not again. I kinda ran out of ideas and that's where we ended up. Ate Chirashi Don again..but a different kind this time. The total bill for the 3 of us didn't come up to over a $100 though...thank goodness! After dinner, we ended up at Clarke Quay's TCC for a drink and some catching up before retiring.
My chirashi don..yummy yummy
Joann's ramen
Puss's Katsu
At TCC
Our cheesecake
And chocolate cake
And my Lychee Jazz which was awesome!
Spent National Day eating pizza, playing Nintendo Wii, drinking Moet and Choya, watching NDP, watching an MTV and playing mahjong. NDP wasn't, bet you guys spotted quite a number of mistakes right? Anyway, we kinda gave up watching midway.
Today was stay home Sunday. Woke up with practically almost half the Sunday gone and decided to stay at home. Watched Hitch on tv just now and absolutely loved it. I've watched it in the movies before but that didn't prevent me from enjoying it a second time!

My get rich fast plan has been stymied yet again. There were only a total of 4 numbers among 10 rows of 7 numbers!!! I'm left in dismay. Back to work again on Monday...sobbbbb

So much so much
I might have screwed up my International Marketing paper on Saturday. Whatever I studied the whole week before kinda didn't come out for the exam. I was taken off guard and I spent quite a lot of time on the exam table thinking how I should choose and answer 3 of the 8 questions lol. Anyway I'm just glad that its over and I'm now just left with 2 more modules before I can finally graduate! Humans are just never satisfied, you long to study when you're working. But when you're studying, you can't wait for graduation and liberation. I'm human too.
After the paper, I met with the poly mates for a well deserved break and to celebrate Shawn's belated birthday. We had dinner at Chin Wah Heng Seafood place at East Coast park. Its clustered together with the other big players like Jumbo, No Signboard, Red House and Long Beach all in the same area. Its the cheapest looking among the lot. Maybe thats why the birthday boy chose the place but he retorted that its also the best among the lot based on his experience. The dinner turned out to be reasonable, with each of us paying about $27 each including the treat for the birthday boy and his girlfriend.
After dinner, we went down to Siglap looking for desserts. We ended up in Royal Cafe which looked good from the outside. They do sell very very cheap gelato ice-creams, possibly the cheapest around. 2 scoops for a mere $3.20 and I thought they tasted quite ok too. But the same can't be said about the service though, we had trouble communicating our order with the ice-cream man from China and also the blur waiter who hardly got any instructions correct. When we first sat down on the table, he asked if we needed the menu. He then brought us the food menu but told us they don't serve food anymore at that time. Then why bother asking and bringing us the food menu?!
Met up with Bernerd on Sunday with the intention of playing snooker but when we went down to all our usual hangout snooker parlours, we were disappointed to find out that they all don't exist anymore!
We ended up on a shopping spree at Orchard's Zara before catching Money No Enough 2! It's actually quite a good show, way better than Jack Neo's last Ah Long Pte Ltd. The show emphasised on filial piety, portrayed how it'll be like to be poorer than having no money and about not treasuring your love ones. It bugs you, but it also opens your eyes. I actually have so many nice things to say about a Jack Neo's movie? It must be worth watching.
I sprained my ankle again. Its the same leg, the same ankle, the same injury. I just might to quit soccer for good. I really don't want the injury to keep recurring. But I really can't bear to. Although I do like tennis, snooker, golf and swimming, there's no other sport closer to my heart.
Read on the papers today that this Thai teenager copied a scene from Grand Theft Auto and murdered this Bangkok cabby. He wanted money to buy the new GTA game but his parents won't give it to him. So he took the 500 baht pocket money his parents gave him and used it to buy a knife. What kinda kum gong person is that? Now thanks to him, the whole of Thailand is banning the sale of GTA, good going thai boy.
There are other ways to earn money! I might desire an Aston Martins DB9 but I won't rob a bank nor kill anybody just to buy one?! There's something else better known as TOTO, speaking of which, the $8 million this Friday will all be going into my pocket. Goodbye to my organisation, goodbye to humilty, hello rich world!
PS: Frangrance Bak Kwa will be selling at a 43% discount this National Day! I'm so gonna get a sore throat this weekend!

I'm first!
Ever since I swapped the Disney / Cartoon Network group for the Education group on my cable TV, I've been glued, glued to the History Channel. If you don't already know it, I'm letting you know right now, I'm a history buff!
During my lower secondary school days, I would already pick up my sis's modern history textbook and start reading. I especially love to read about wars!
Recently watched the documentary on Dracula. Do you know that although Dracula is a work of fiction, the character is very much inspired by this Romanian King call Vlad III? Vlad the Impaler reigned during the 1400s and is known for the exceedingly cruel punishments he imposed during his reign. Impalement was Vlad's preferred method of torture and execution.
His method of torture was a horse attached to each of the victim's legs as a sharpened stake was gradually forced into the body. The end of the stake was usually oiled, and care was taken that the stake not be too sharp; else the victim might die too rapidly from shock. Normally the stake was inserted into the body through the anus and was often forced through the body until it emerged from the mouth. However, there were many instances where victims were impaled through other bodily orifices or through the abdomen or chest. Infants were sometimes impaled on the stake forced through their mother's chests. The records indicate that victims were sometimes impaled so that they hung upside down on the stake. As expected, death by impalement was slow and painful. Victims sometimes endured for hours or days. And this guy got his reputation when he once feasted amongst a forest of stakes and their grisly burdens outside Braşov, while a nearby executioner cuts apart other victims. Intriguing isn't it? Subscribe to the History Channel now! Starhub odd to pay me.
Vlad III
Vlad III feasting during Impalement
Then there's this documentary on Fibel Castro, the former dictator of Cuba. A dictator that actually outlived and outreigned 9 American Presidents even though all of them wanted him dead! His rise to power was nothing interesting in particular but I'm impressed by how he actually managed to amass millions of supporters just by giving a speech..pretty much like Adolf Hitler.
Fidel Castro
I'm staying glued, there's Gengkis Khan, Qin Shihuang, Alexander, Napoleon and so much more for me to stay intrigued!
I finally got an additional rooftop over my chevrons today. Know what that means? An extra protection to prevent shit from collecting inside the chevrons! Haha I'm not keeping it secret, in fact I don't even bother, I'm still counting down! I'm a history buff, I've interest in advertising, and yet I'm with the army! Wtf wft! Lol.
Today, I committed one of the most common and most honest mistake in the world. I accidentally walked into a female's toilet! I had no idea what I was thinking back then, but I unknowingly pushed open the door of the female toilet in my school. Fortunately, there was a girl behind the sink when I did that, if not I might have just walked in and use the cubicle! After I saw her shocked face in the mirror, I reacted with a quick "Opps Sorry!" and quickly walked back into the correct toilet hahaha.
Caught the Mummy 3 today, its really really shit. The storyline was crap, I didn't enjoy the show one bit. Selecting Jet Li to star as Qin Shihuang was already a bad decision in the first place. Why was I so stupid as to go catch the movie? My advise to you is not to waste your money too lol.
Went out for dinner with Mum and Sis on Tuesday at The Bark Cafe off Changi Road beside Changi Chapel. It had a nice ambience but the same can't be said about the food there. Not worth the travel there if you're looking to pamper your taste buds.
The entrance
The nice surroundings
My green mussels pasta, which was plain
Sis's crayfish hor fun..apparently what they're famous for
Mum's beef stew
We had some chicken wings as well
Good thing there's a nice serene surrounding to the place, which added to the dining experience
Mum and Sis
Just like being in a resort
