My lil sis

Met up with my lil sis Eunice just now. It has been ages since we last met up. I remembered talking to her on the phone for quite awhile around half a year ago and meeting up with her for lunch at Peninsula Plaza's Burger King more than 2 years ago thats it! Anyway the reason why she become my lil sis is because during the time when i was still rather active in church, everyone there thinks that we look alike and thought that we were siblings, so we went along with it and yup she become my Godsister!

I very happy to have such a Godsister. And i'm also glad to learn just now that she will be getting married soon! She'll be going for her R.O.M next month in fact...just one day before her birthday...how's that for a double celebration. Anyway we found a coffeeshop near her place where we sat down for prata and a drink. Its amazing how we can still talk like before even though we haven been catching up. Looking forward to attending her wedding, i'm sure she'll be a beautiful bride!

Reminiscing

Decided to change my blogskin after so many years. How is it? Quite cool right haha. But there's still a problem. Why can't FireFox, Netscape and Modzilla browser users hear the music from my blog. I will need to solve that. Anyway here's a post summarising the activities i had the past week.

Had a soccer match last weekend at St Wilfred's soccer pitch. Its an artificial grass pitch and its really nice playing there because the field is completely flat with no sand patches unlike most other fields. But my soccer boots has started to get hungry and opened its mouth recently...ended up eating lots of those black rubber beads from the field...irritated the hell outta me haha. Anyway we ended up losing the match 5-4..a really exciting 9 goals thriller match if you ask me but the opponents were really sore losers...they kept making unwanted comments when they were losing and reacted like they won the world cup when they scored the winning goals...really childish ah bengs haha.

The pitch

On Hari Raya Puasa day, i went to Sham's house. According to them, its my first time gracing this event at his place after so many years of invitation haha. Yeah i finally got to taste your mum's rendang chicken yeah Sham. In the evening, i met up with Bernerd and Weijian for jogging and swimming. Managed to cover 5km and still felt fresh...looks like i haven lost it. But 5km is still a far cry from the 42km i will need to cover next month. God help me.

Must always take a shot to remember one good day of exercising! Haha

On thursday, i met up with Samantha and Puss for dinner. We ate at Balestier's Bak Kuh Teh store..the same one i ate with Weijian the other time. And can you believe it, its puss's first time eating bak kuh teh his whole life..super suah ku. After dinner, Sam went home. Puss and i decided to explore the new VivoCity. Glad that it wasn't as crowded as that weekend i went. Its a huge mall with a lot of stores..now we have a one stop centre for our christmas shopping! After shopping, i met up with Jackie and Daniel at Wala Wala. This time it was a girl singing and she's good! It was an insane night. Wala Wala wasn't the end of my day, i went on to meet Lixing, Jieming and 2 of Lixing's friends at Double O haha. It turned out to be a smelly and tiring night haha. One of Lixing's friend got really drunk and Lixing got stuck with him in the toilet for more than an hour. I then went to look for him where both of us carried that drunk monkey out of the toilet, out of the club, into Lixing's car and back home. It was the first time in my life i had to handle someone this drunk...i'm so glad my clubbing friends are sensible enough to not get themselves this drunk haha. I never felt smellier clubbing..i reeked of vomit, cigarettes and alcohol after that...yes it was gross.

Nice surroundings at the rooftop of Vivo City

Dead drunk monkey

Went back to Temasek Poly with Shawn, Henry and Darien on friday. Yes it was a reminiscing day. Visited our lecturers, had lunch at the new ITAS canteen, played daidee at the study rooms like good old days and even crashed a hospitality and tourism lecture haha. After reminiscing, we went to Tampines Mall for a movie. Wanted to watch Prestige as planned before but stupid Shawn and Darien spoilt it by watching it themselves. Its alright though because we watched The Guardian instead and it turned out to be a good show too. One of those shows that managed to make me tear haha. But it was rather ridiculous in between because throughout the show, they always sent an improportionate number of rescuers. For example they know that there are 6 people out there having distress at sea, they sent just one Kevin Costner and 1 helicopter...haha i don't want to say more..watch it yourself.

Took a shot in the lecture haha

King King Queen Queen!

School restarted for me yesterday. Had a 4 hours lecture, the new subject is International Business. Examination date 8th December...i can hardly breathe! Lol. Met up with Daniel, Bucky, Dave and Jackie after class. We had dinner at Pepper Lunch before wanting to watch the Prestige but the tickets were all sold out by the time we wanted to get. We ended up at Jackie's house and poor Dave had to sit there all alone watching tv and surfing the net because he don't play mj haha.

Attended some relative's wedding lunch today. I heard that its a new trend, holding wedding lunch instead of the traditional dinner. Anyway its almost the same, it ended around 4 plus in the afternoon and here i am still quite full from the meal...there's no need for dinner anymore..1 ang bao settle 2 meals..quite worth it lah!

Congrats to the couple

There's always sweetness after bitterness

It has been a tiring week. Last tuesday, i had my IMT before my actual range on wednesday. I'm proud to say that i'm the only one among the lot that got full marks that day! Woohoo! But on wednesday, when we were supposed to have the actual range, we only shot a few rounds before they decided that the range had to be cancelled! Apparently, somewhere in the forest behind the shooting range, some bush caught fire and there are firemen there fighting the fire. There goes all my effort that day being the store IC and preparing all the shitty store that day and more importantly, i lost the potential $200 that i might get should i get marksman that day!

Anyway, my mum came back from her holiday on tuesday and we went to fetch her from the airport. This time, Annabel, Terence and Ah Kor came along too. Before going to the airport, i brought them to Suntec City for dinner where we ate at Crystal Jade Kitchen. Treated them to the famous roast duck, salt and pepper cuttlefish and ma bao tofu. Notice that Terence has become a really big eater, while i only managed 1 plate of dried noodles, he gobbled 2 bowls of rice! I can forsee a fat Terence next time! Haha. Anyway, Mum mentioned that Hokkaido is really cold. They ate salmon almost everyday that she's now sick of it. Anyway i found out that the trip didn't come cheap...$2400 for 7 days 6 nights in fact! That's really expensive if you ask me..i would choose to go somewhere else with that amount of money!

Me, Ah Kor and Jie!

Jie, Annabel and Terence!

Spent the whole of my friday studying at NUS with Weijian. He brought me to their business canteen for lunch and their arts canteen for dinner. I must comment that the food there sucks...compared to SIM at least..but its cheaper lah. Didn't really found the form to study hard enough though before D-day finally arrived on saturday. Found out that our course was the only course having any event that day..on a public holiday! Poor exam invigilators had to sacrifice their public holiday to come monitor us. When i arrived in school, i realised that i was supposed to receive a slip of paper stating that i'm supposed to sit for this exam. But i didn't get it! So i panicked and quickly call mum. She then went down to my letterbox and found it! The stupid postman was late! So i had to trouble mum to take a cab down and bring it for me..thanks mum! The paper turned out to be relatively easy, the topics that came out were predictable. But i screwed up a few details while doing the exam because i forgot! Don't think i'll score well for this paper..now i just hope that i can pass! I promise to get my form back for the next paper!

After the paper, i travelled all the way to Yishun where i fetched Philadel. We then went on to Orchard for dinner at Heeren's NYDC before we rushed to the indoor stadium for the long awaited Lee Hom's concert. The concert turned out to be really good. There was a variety of music namely rap, love ballads, instrumental, hip hop etc..and he can play the violin, piano, drum and even the er hu! I must say i was quite disappointed when i arrived and there was no sign of a grand piano. But when they pushed one out in the middle of the concert i started to smile. What i admire most about him is when he plays the piano and sing...wooh! There were quite a lot of celebrities there at the concert too including Kit Chan, some mediacorp actors and Taufik...hahaha yes Taufik...i wonder why he's even there..he won't understand a shit! Wang Li Hong also openly admitted that he had a crush on Kit Chan when he was young and he really admires her hahaha...i wonder what Ah Mei will think about that! Philadel told me that she went for David Tao's concert recently and it was really good too..i regret missing that! Anyway this is the first one man concert that i've been to so far, the last concert i went for was Air supply's concert! Wow i guess that must have been at least 2 years ago?

A visit to world trade center

One night last week, i woke up in the middle of night abruptly feeling uncomfortable. I began to scratch the sole of my foot non-stop..then i realised what caused it! One bloody mosquito has bitten me! And of all place on the sole of my foot! I'm sure many of you has been through this..its so unbearable i had to sit up and scratch for 15mins or so before i managed to get back to sleep again. Fortunately when i woke up the next morning, the itch is gone and everything was back to normal haha.

My mum went to Japan for holiday last Wednesday and i fetched her to the airport. Before that, we went for dinner at East Coast Park's hawker center. We ate the usual BBQ stuff like stingray and sotong lol. She will be coming back later tonight so i'm actually rushing through this before leaving home to go fetch her again lol. Here are some photos!

Happy family 1

Happy family 4..i didn't crop them away..it was a misshot lol

Another picture of Mr Cutie!

I spent the most of last weekend studying..for those that don't know..my exam is coming up this coming saturday! Yes on a public holiday Deepavali! Fortunately its not an important day to me. I'm just crossing my fingers they won't put the next exam on Christmas day! I'll seriously kill them.

After studying with Weijian and Puss on saturday at NUS, we decided we wanted to visit the new Vivo City. When we got there, we realised that we weren't the only one with that same idea. The place was packed! There was a long queue of cars waiting to enter the carpark. And when i finally managed to drive in, i couldn't find a parking lot and thats when i decided to give up and come another day. But i must say the place looks quite nice...there's a good feeling about the place..i'll go there again after my exams..only this time i'll take the NEL!

We then went to our usual hangout place Orchard. We managed to get tickets to World Trade Center at Lido...the cinema where there's always seats waiting for you no matter how last minute your decision is. Before the show, we went for dinner at Wisma's Ichiban. Really had my fill there, but they cheated me of $2 and i don't want to mention more about it. Ok, about the movie. Well..its alright..don't really like it though..its quite draggy. But i could really imagine myself in there position. You know the phobia of being confined in a really small space...i actually have that phobia. I've had nightmares of myself being stuck in a small space and i got really scared. I cannot imagine them being stuck there for such a long time..i would have gone mad. Admirable they might be, but i must say they are no true heroes. Like what Puss said, the spirit of wanting to go in and help them is commendable...but they really didn't do anything nor help anyone before the tower collasped..instead others had to help them...ironic but true haha. I want to watch the departed next!

Act cute? Not really...i'm a natural

Pussy and the new slippers we got him!

I spoke to Vernetta Lopez on the phone yesterday. She only said this one sentence to me: "You're the 8th caller, please try again thank you." Damn! If you've been listening to radio, you will know what i'm talking about. I was calling in for the Subaru WRX challenge. You have to be either the 5th or 9th caller to qualify. I was just one caller too early! Argh. I've been trying for weeks but the phone just won't ring for me. When i finally managed to call through it turned out to be a waste of time and money lol. Just today i managed to call through again but i was the 2nd caller! This is the last week i can qualify for it..i won't give up!

Check it out

I played soccer at Orchid Park Secondary last sunday, a friendly match with some team my friend managed to find outside. They turn out to be poly undergrads and were even short of players. In the end, we won comfortably at 4-0.

When i came home last night, my mum told me that my cousin yanqing has been featured on Stomp and there's a video clip there on their website. Do check it, i've attached the link below! She's my salsa teacher now! But i doubt i can ever execute any of those moves there! Lol. Anyway this cousin of mine has really been born to dance. She started young as a ballerina and even took part in many ballet musicals like the nutcracker. Somehow, she picked up salsa and even excelled in it. She's now argubly the best salsa dancer in singapore and i'm proud to have her as my teacher! Its a pity though that she's not interested in the upcoming reality show The Dance Floor. I'm sure the $50k will be hers if she did join.

Salsa!

I rarely have time to watch the local channel 8 dramas nowadays but i managed to find some time just now so i watched the current 7pm drama Fairy of the Chalice. Although not a fantastic show, the show features 2 beauties! One of them acts as the fairy of the chalice and i found out that she is Taiwanese actress Zhang Ting...she has that lovely smile plus those cute dimples you can't help but be infatuated with her haha.

Wooh!

Insane Luck

I had incredible luck today..in mahjong haha. In the day, i went to zhuoxiang's house to play and i actually won quite a bit..i don't want to state the exact amount here.

After the first session of mahjong, bernerd and i went for dinner at Miramar Ikoi. It has been quite some time since i've eaten there and the sashimi is still as good as ever lol. After dinner, with my bloated stomach, we went to watch movie at Great World City. Initially, we wanted to watch World Trade Center but only the first 2 rows were left, so went decided to watch Scoop instead. Scoop turned out to be quite a nice show. Scarlett Johansson was really cute...Hugh Jackman was charming and Woody Allen was full of shit yet funny. Overall i kinda enjoyed the show...its worth a watch if you ask me.

Later at night, i went to jackie's house for a second round of mahjong. This is the more insane session. I actually gamed 5 fans 4 times...3 times zi mo. And there were also a fair bit of 4 fans 3 fans etc. And all these happened in just one round. It was simply incredible, whatever cards i wanted just came..and the starting 13 cards i had were also usually nice and very playable. I wish i would have such luck everyday. It wasn't freddy's day again though...he got bao..he gave francis his 4th set when he bao tong zi...and francis actually gamed on the last card of the game...it was an insane session of mahjong and i must say i had the most fun!

I think you won't understand what i'm saying in this post unless you play mahjong too. Anyway more mahjong session please next time guys..thanks for the money! Cheers to brotherhood! Wooh!

Tree top walk, My first salsa class and Pussy's birthday

It has been a friday filled with events. It was considered half day today at work because the second half of the day was used for sort of an excursion. My unit brought us for the HSBC Treetop walk somewhere near macritchie reservoir. You get to cross this really long and high suspension bridge that is above the canopy of the forest as part of the walk, i didn't even know this place existed before this excursion. Its really nice if you love nature. But now is not the time to go i guess, there's no fresh air for you to breathe in, the air now is that hazy that you can't even breathe properly...its really bad.

On top of the suspension bridge

Its this high

In the evening, i met up with Mabelline for our first salsa class! Had trouble finding the place at first because i'm not really a chinatown person...its really hard getting around there. Coincidentally, its lantern festival today and they closed eu tong sen road for some exhibition or float show i guess. When we finally found it, we realised that it is also a bar. I was the only new guy that day so my cousin Yanqing had to teach me personally the basics of the basics of salsa dancing. I think i have trouble remembering the steps although they are not very difficult...i had trouble getting the right timing to spin the girls and pull them towards me haha...its really not easy..at least not as easy as i have imagined. But nevertheless it was really fun and i think i'll go down again next week.

I then had dinner with Mabelline at a chicken rice stall somewhere in chinatown before rushing off to meet Pussy and friends to celebrate his birthday. He chose this pub called Suba at Millenia Walk. The place is nicely done up with nice music and a nice ambience, but there are not many people around! By the time i got there, they already ordered a bottle of champagne that cost $160...and it could at most fill only 7 glasses! I don't think i even paid so much for a bottle on my birthday a few years ago at Ritz Carlton lol...who cares pussy paid for it haha. Anyway, the manager of the place was really friendly and knowing its pussy's birthday, he got him some flaming pepper dance drink and another shot later. The 2 shots and the glass of champagne proved too much for pussy to take and he puked on the way back hahaha. What a memorable and high birthday it was for him. Oh anyway, Bernerd, Weijian and I bought him a pair of havanas slippers...Happy birthday once again pussy.

Summary of a week of events

I haven updated my blog for a week now. Not that i did nothing the whole week, but because i'm waiting for kheng hong's photos so i can upload them here and also partly because i'm lazy. Anyway he has finally posted his photos so here are some of them!

Anyway last monday, i met up with my poly friends at One Rochester to celebrate Sham's 22nd birthday. Its my second time there this year but we tried another restaurant this time, not the Bistro Bar i went to with my Mum and sis the other time. Its North Borders that we dine in this time. I had Hoegardens and some surf and turf steak and i can't really remember what the others ordered. But i can never forget Henry Chia's order. He ordered the Sucidal Pasta! I didn't add the exclaimation mark on my own..its part of the dish's name. The waiter had warned him beforehand that the dish is super hot but he went ahead and ordered it anyway. When the dish came, everyone thought nothing of it and continued eating. Till Henry got Darien and Sam to try his pasta. Darien started complaining like mad and Sam started tearing and complaining too. I thought nothing of it at first..i mean how hot can something get..just drink more water and it'll be ok. I then took around 4 strands of pasta. I swear it was the worst food i've ever tasted in my life. The after taste of the pasta was piercing hot and bitter! You won't believe it but i drank 3 full glasses of water immediately and the taste still won't go off. I think it stayed for around 20-30 mins before it finally got better. Can you imagine anyone eating the whole damn plate of pasta? I think even the toughest indian from the northest of india won't be able to take that kind of HOT lah haha...my goodness. And Xiaowen don't even think this is a food recommendation from me haha.

B-boy with his Cake (Put his face here, wait he complain his face cut off by me haha)

The worst dish ever created. Suicidal Pasta!

After dinner, they wanted to visit Settler's cafe at holland village to play some boardgames but we realised that it has closed down when we got there. I've no idea why all these boardgame cafes close down so rapidly...its kinda find being there actually. Anyway, we decided to patronise Gelare instead. They had waffles, ice cream, tea etc but i didn't order anything because i had drunk too much water at dinner haha. Anyway, Valen got Sham a mud nike sweater for this birthday, it should come in handy in his cold office or when he attend his lectures next time. Happy birthday again.

On Friday, i didn't have to go to camp because it was my unit's anniversary and they celebrated it by having a bowling outing at Safra Mt Faber. Each person got to bowl 3 games each, the first being the warm up round and the second and third games were competitive. I was grouped together with 2 other guy and 1 sissy that don't really know how to bowl...actually i don't really know how to bowl myself although i will zhao school during secondary school to bowl last time. But to my surprise, all of us managed to bowl above our expections that day..i even managed to score more than 100 for each of the 3 games..i was pretty proud of myself. To my disappointment, we managed only 4th place and there's only prizes for the top 3 teams! TMD!

They have a really nice bowling alley

A sissy in my team

I missed out on these

Happy Anniversary!

Studied during on Saturday at Puss's school again. Met him in his school but couldn't contact him when i got there. Guess what..he fell asleep while studying..why am we not surprised haha. Anyway, didn't really get to absorb much that day, i guess i wasn't on form lah. We then decided we want to eat dinner at a coffeeshop a turn just before Singapore Powers at Orchard. This coffeeshop is just opposite Lee Wei Song's Music School and its a place Weijian recommended me a few years ago where we had some Beef Ball Noodles. When we got there, to my disappointment, the store is no longer there. We then walked down and settled for Chicken Rice at a store called Chicken Rice Ex-Press. Its quite alright..nice juicy chicken and fragrant garlic rice.

Unoriginal name

My meal that evening

After dinner, we decided to watch movie and i forced Puss to watch Rob-B-Hood. I've no idea why he detest Jackie Chan's movies so much...i think they were all pretty entertaining, action packed and sometimes funny. This movie was no exception. They even managed to get a damn cute baby to star in it. The baby was seriously super cute, it makes you want to have one yourself haha. Anyway i'll recommend the show, don't know about Pussy though..i think he's just biased haha.

On Sunday, i went to Zhuoxiang's house to play mahjong. I'm glad i won haha. After mahjong, we went to Newton Circles for dinner. They recently reopened after renovation and to tell you the truth, the place still looks the same to me, i've no idea why they wasted all those money..why not stuff it in my pocket.

I have 2 really old family photos that i put on my desk and i took a picture of it recently thinking of sharing it with you guys. You can actually see how i look like last time with my center parting hair and cutesy face haha. Its nice to reminisce sometimes you know, it can bring back memories that make you smile.

Look how much i've changed

Look how much my nieces and nephew have grown!

Have you any idea what a group of turtles is called? A vale..a vale of turtles. And have you any idea what a group of unicorns is called? A blessing...a blessing of unicorns..how cool is that? I learnt them from Glenn and the flying dutchman haha.

Oh something else informative..you guys don't only have Mustafa shopping center to turn to now when you're bored at night and feel like shopping, there's also Downtown East Pasir Ris! They are opening 24 hours too..now we've somewhere else to go in the east, the central, something in the south opening soon..now we just need something in the north and west!
